  • Saturday, June 9 at 12:00 PM, Ungathering Planning Meeting. We've got the hotel; we've set the date; we've acquired an RG book. Now all we need is help from YOU to make this the best Ungathering ever. Join us at the Pancake Shop at 4838 Summer Avenue for the second U.G. Planning Meeting. The Pancake shop is located on the north side of Summer near Mendenhall. For info contact trisha1832@gmail.com

  • Sunday, June 10 at 2:00 PM, Planter Making Class. Come one, come all and play in the dirt! I know your mother told you not to (at least once, right?). Well, this is different! I'm talking CREATIVE dirt...and cement...and water (oh, boy!). So, bring the kid in you (and some real ones, if you have them) and have some fun playing in the mud. Guys, you too! Brute strength will be a welcome assistance with the wheelbarrow.

CONGRATULATIONS

Congratulations to Nathan Chenault, the winner of the free registration to the 2007 AG. The drawing was held at the 3rd Annual Margarita Monday Party. Photos of the party should be on the M-Friends website by May 31.

...the party continues!

We have a date set, a hotel contract and have already started putting together a slate of speakers and events for the U.G.! All we need now is a lot of people to make this a great party and one that Memphis can be proud of.

The U.G. will be held on September 28-30 at the Memphis Plaza and Suites on Shelby Oaks Drive (just off of Sycamore View). Some of you "old timers" may remember this hotel from many years ago. We had Temperance in the bar there for quite a few years, only then the hotel was a Holiday Inn. Memphis Plaza purchased the hotel last year and they have been busy doing renovations.

We've got a great contract with the hotel including a $40 room rate, free meeting rooms and exclusive after-hours use of the indoor pool and hot tub. What more could you ask for? How about use of the bar to hold a dance on Saturday night? We got that too! There will be a game room, 24-hour hospitality suite(s) and speakers all day on Saturday. This is going to be an UN-beatable event that you don't want to miss.

Registration for the weekend is $50 through July 8, $55 July 9 through September 27 and $60 for walk-ins. You can register online with a credit card or download the registration form from the Un-Gathering website: http://UnGathering.M-Friends.org. Check the site often for updates on what will be available.

Want to help with the U.G.? We need pre-event cooks (to prepare all the wonderful food that will be available 24-hours each day), people to volunteer to work a shift in hospitality, speakers and lots of ideas for interesting things to do. Our next planning meeting is June 9th. Stop by and give us your input. Or contact Trisha@M-Friends.org, Jami@M-Friends.org or Susan@M-Friends.org. We'd love to hear from you.

THE UN-GATHERING COMMITTEE

July 4-8, 2007

New Friends, Old Friends, M-Friends

We've been seeing quite a few new faces at the Friday night dinners lately and hope all of you join us for other events. Remember, you can never have too many M-Friends!

If you're one of our members who has never attended any event,  I hope you'll try to make it to one of our Friday night dinners soon. We usually have eight to twelve members in attendance and there are always at least two or three different topics of conversation to join in on.

Another great way to meet all your M-Friends is to volunteer for something. Host an event; plan a dinner; set up an outing. Or if you REALLY want to be a hero, volunteer to help at the U.G.  This is going to be a great event, but the more people involved the better it will be. We need your help!

I hope to see all of you soon.
