M-Friends Yard Sale Nets $5,000

Hey, it is April Fools Day, right? The yard sale didn't net $5,000, but we did make $200+ and we had a lot of fun in the process. You really meet some interesting folks at a yard sale...REALLY interesting folks. It was a gorgeous day for the sale and we got to spend all day out in the fresh air visiting with other M-Friends and people-watching.

Speaking of visiting with M-Friends, we've seen quite a few new faces at our Friday night dinners lately and I hope to not only see those people again, but to see MORE new faces. I've been trying to set up the dinners in all different areas of town and at all types price ranges of restaurants. Sometimes I have a suggestion from someone of a restaurant to try; sometimes it's just a place that sounds interesting to me; sometimes I think "the devil made me do it."  If you know of a great restaurant, let me know and we'll plan a dinner there.

Next Friday night, (April 6) we're going to Chao Praya. This comes highly recommended by one of our members who even went back there after recommending it -- just to be sure the food was still as good as he remembered. Dinner on the 20th is at Bozo's in Mason -- a mid-south icon. Everyone who's lived in the area for long has at least heard of Bozo's if not eaten there. This restaurant has received so much national attention, the owner even got sued by Bozo the Clown for using the name "Bozo's". Course... this restaurant had the name long before the  clown-dude was around.

There's not going to be a dinner the last Friday night in April because some of us will be in Birmingham at an AG meeting. The 2007 Birmingham AG is going to be the best AG ever and you don't want to miss it.

M-Friends is sponsoring the Friday morning breakfast and we still need YOUR help. Volunteer to bake breakfast pastries, (your recipe or ours) or if you're not the "Betty Crocker" type, donate some freezer space or he next time you're in the grocery store, grab and extra bag of flour, sugar or other baking staples. You can drop it off to us at one of the Friday night dinners (hey, we've brought stranger things into restaurants) or send me an e-mail (trisha1832@gmail.com) and someone will pick it up. Remember -- every little bit helps. Just to give you some idea of the magnitude of this endeavor, we're estimating we'll need about 1,000 biscuits, 1,000 muffins, 500 breakfast bars and 60 coffee cakes. All of this before the first of July! Soooo --- H E L-L-L-P-P-P-!!! Please.

Don't forget to register for the free AG Registration. You can enter once at each M-Friends event. The drawing will be held at the Third Annual M-Friends Margarita Monday Party on May 28. Start the summer off right! Enjoy Margaritas and munchies on the patio. And if you want to cool off in the pool, bring along a swimsuit.

Please join us for one or more of the April activities. M-Friends events are open to all Memphis Mensa members.
